Vadodara: Starting from Saturday, 31-year-old Jarul Vora, a practising advocate, will embark on a 1,465 km journey on her cycle. Her mission: to create awareness on breast cancer and early detection.
Jarul will start her cycle ride from India Gate, Delhi on Saturday and reach Gateway of India in Mumbai on December 21 covering Jaipur, Bhilwara, Kherwada, Vadodara and Telasari in south Gujarat.
"My mother Ila Vora was detected of cancer in 2008 but in 2009 she successfully completed her treatment and is perfectly healthy right now at the age of 58," said Jarul, who is now the face of HCG Hospitals and HCG Gujarat, which is promoting the ride to make people aware to go for early detection so that cancer can be treated like any other normal disease.
"It was because of early detection that my mother survived. In fact, even when she was undergoing chemotherapy she continued her practice as an advocate," said Jarul, who will take the ride titled 'Fearless Me'.
Born in Sasan-Gir, Jarul, who since last six years is settled in the city, has went through rudimentary training regime that included strength training, multiple 100 km rides every week to go through this arduous journey of hers.
"As a school student I had represented Gujarat at national level in 2001 and I believe that I will be able to complete this journey," said Jarul, who will spread awareness by interacting with locals on route and through social media platforms.
