Bhatkhande Deemed Music University: Doctorate to Srilankan student at convocation

Bhatkhande Deemed Music University will confer a doctorate (PhD) to a Srilankan student Siri Nishad Arunkant Handunpatirana for his research on the topic ‘The development of Indian classical music in Sri Lanka with reference to bowing instruments and their masters from India in the last century.’

Bhatkhande Deemed Music University will confer a doctorate (PhD) to a Srilankan student Siri Nishad Arunkant Handunpatirana for his research on the topic ‘The development of Indian classical music in Sri Lanka with reference to bowing instruments and their masters from India in the last century,’ in its convocation ceremony to be held at Sangeet Natak Akademi on December 18. Along with Handunpatirana, four more people would be awarded PhD in various topics.

As many as 34 more students would be awarded degrees and post graduation in music by governor Ram Naik who will be present as the chief guest on the occasion.

Vice-chancellor of Bhatkhande Deemed Music University Shruti Shaldolikar Katkar said that since she took over as VC, the session of Bhatkhande have been regularised and students are receiving music education of the highest quality. The proof of this is that number of foreign students in the institute is going up with every passing year, she said.

Students of Bhatkhannde will present dance performance and orchestra performance on the convocation ceremony day.
