Up-and-coming reggae singer Queen B is looking forward to a bright future in music.

The St James-born artiste is getting ready to release her debut single, titled Dreadful Times.

The song, which was produced by internationally acclaimed music producer Kemar 'Flava' McGregor, will be released on January 12 on the FM music label.

"This my first recording, and I am eager to see how the public will react to it," said Queen B.

The soft-spoken mother of three is hoping that her song will help to bring an end to the current spate of violence that has besieged the city of Montego Bay and other parts of the island.

"I've always loved music, and I love to sing, but I never planned to be a recording artiste. However, when I looked at what's happening in Montego Bay, I decided to write this song and record it with the hope that it will help to make a change," the artiste said.

TOO MUCH VIOLENCE

"I'm very worried about what's going on. There's too much violence in our country, everyone is living in fear, not even the children are safe anymore."

According to McGregor, he believes that Queen B has the potential to be the next big female reggae singer.

"Queen B is a magnificent talent, and she's easy to work with. I believe she's going to have a great future in the music biz," he said.

Queen B, given name Mauya-Gaye Brown, was born and raised in Spring Mount, St James. She's a past student of Rusea's High School.
