Rispana, Bindal rivers development work to begin soon

River front development works will be carried out along the Rispana and Bindal rivers in Dehradun. The hydrological study for this has been completed. The master planning and feasibility study has also been conducted for this task. This was stated in a meeting chaired by the chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh here on Thursday.

Addressing officials in the meeting, the chief secretary said that that a memorandum of understanding should be signed with a public sector undertaking for the river front development project. Provision should be made for keeping at least 65 per cent green space in the area to be developed. Officials stated in the meeting that as part of the river front development project, various works including construction of road, cycling track, check dams, habitat centre, residential complex, parking facility, Yoga park, pedestrian paths, commercial complex and sewage treatment plant among other things will be facilitated. Principal secretary, irrigation, Anand Wardhan, housing secretary Amit Singh Negi, urban development secretary Nitesh Jha, forest secretary Arvind Singh Hyanki, revenue secretary Harbans Singh Chugh, Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority vice chairman Ashish Srivastav and other officials concerned were also present in the meeting.
