Jaipur: A woman in Jaipur on Thursday alleged that the Jaipur police in connivance with the Madhya Pradesh police are shielding a tainted
IPS officer who allegedly raped and blackmailed her on multiple occasions.
Speaking here at a press meet, she said that IPS officer Anil Mishra, former assistant IG of Madhya Pradesh CID, extorted lakhs of rupees from her on the pretext of helping her husband come out of jail.
"The official is currently on the run. We had filed the FIR back in 2014 and yet the Jaipur police have showed no inclination to nab him. We have all evidence which indicates that he is being shielded," she said.
The woman said that her husband was part of a multi-level marketing (MLM) gold investment company. He was arrested by the Madhya Pradesh police in 2011 in a cheating case.
"My husband had asked me to seek help from Mishra. The official instead sexually exploited me and then also threatened me," she said, adding that the official is currently on the run.
The complainant said that she had filed an FIR against the Madhya Pradesh police official in 2014 at women police station Jaipur (City-South). "Ever since the case has been filed, the official is on the run. But his mobile number is still active which shows that no sincere efforts are being made to arrest him," said her brother while speaking to media.
The Rajasthan police, however, said that such allegations are not true and the case is under the investigation. "We are investigating the case, the allegations are being examined too," the official said, adding that the Jaipur police cannot share details of the investigation.
