It was probably an almost impossible task. Disney and Lucasfilm have built the hype and expectations for The Last Jedi to unprecedented heights during the two years since The Force Awakens hits cinemas.  

Critics have been overwhelmingly positive towards the new movie but diehard fans who flocked to see Episode 8 as soon as it opened have flooded Youtube channels dedicated to Star Wars fandoms with their complaints.

It should be noted these are all fans who have followed sites and channels dedicated to the Star Wars franchise and who have spent two years discussing their excitement and hopes for The Last Last Jedi.

The word "disappointed" seemed to crop up the most as they singled out the Luke storyline, Kylo Ren and Rey scenes, Snoke, plot holes "as big as The Supremacy", the failure to deliver certain expected moments and one very unfortunate moment involving Luke and a female alien.

STAR WARS THE LAST JEDI FANS COMMENTS:

“Seen the film today, sad to say a disappointment is an understatement.”

“There isn't a single character who isn't left ruined by this movie. Not one that I can think of.”

“Ugh, Rian Johnson’s script really sucked. This movie was a colossal let down!!! Instead of Lando, A Jedi or Sith training sequence, or an epic Luke Skywalker/Rey vs The Knights of Ren on Ahch-to battle royale we got sappy, emo “Force Texting” interludes and wimpy Luke dying for no reason. WHY WOULD LUCASFILM APPROVE THIS CR** SCRIPT???!! This is exactly the opposite of what we needed. Rian Jonson has not only sh** the bed, he’s ruined our enjoyment of the entire saga! He needs to be fired ASAP & replaced. NO RIAN, we don’t want your “new trilogy” I’m sure it’ll suck.”

“Laziest film ever made. I don't even get a Snoke back story at all! Rey is just some chick nobody wanted. Plot holes are as big as the Supremacy!”

“The last Jedi was the first Star Wars movie that left me disappointed as i left the cinema, hope they make up for it with Episode 9 but not counting on it.”

“George Lucas needs to get it back from Disney before they kill it which they have almost done with The Last Jedi. Save your creation, George.”

“Cinematically one of the best damn movies I've ever seen. Whether it did us diehards justice to Star Wars is another matter. Visually Ahch-Tou is an awesome planet, everything you see with Rey and Yoda amazing. I just can't get over the end. I don't know if Star Wars is still salvageable where they left it at the end of the movie. It's treading on on Dangerous Grounds. Was it Luke’s choice to die? Still a little confused.”

“I honestly don't know how I feel, I mean the story is different, but not good. They leave more questions then answers and honestly only want a fresh start so Disney can do what they want to the series. It’s not all bad, I'll grant it that, but Legends material is so much better by comparison by leaps and bounds.”
