YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy mingling with people during his padayatra in Anantapur on Thursday | Express

ANANTAPUR : Reiterating that the Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh is right of the people, YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that the YSRC MPs will raise the issue in the winter session of Parliament. The Opposition Leader continued his Praja Sankalpa Yatra in the district on Thursday. A group of students of Sri Krishnadevaraya University met him and urged his support for the agitation they planned for SCS for AP.

They told him that the Joint Action Committee of Students gave a call for ‘Chalo Delhi programme’ on December 20 demanding SCS for AP as promised at the time of bifurcation of the State. Jagan extended his party’s support to the ‘Chalo Delhi programme’ of students. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the YSRC MPs would raise the issue in Parliament and bring pressure on the BJP-led NDA government to fulfil all the assurances given to AP at the time of bifurcation, he said.

Later, the YSRCP held its Parliamentary party meeting at Kuderu village and discussed various issues, including the strategy to be adopted in the winter session of Parliament. After the end of his 35th day of padayatra, Jagan left for Hyderabad to attend the court trial on Friday. According to YSRC sources, Jagan will resume his Praja Sankalpa Yatra from Dharmavaram Assembly constituency on Saturday.
