Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal today urged technology institutes to teach basic social sciences to students too as part of curriculum so that education is not treated as silos of learning.
Baijal was addressing the fourth convocation of Delhi Technology University.
"For too long university teaching has dished out courses that have treated education as silos of learning. When times have changed, an interdisciplinary courses that broaden the learning base should be an essential component for a balanced learning," Baijal, who is also the chancellor of the varsity, said.
"Nobody can dispute that major objective of all learning in education is in someway or the other an attempt to resolve issues of humanities," he said.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, 'Metro man' E Sreedharan also took part in the event.
