NEW DELHI: Most Indians believe Modinomics is working, as 74 per cent respondents, in an online survey conducted in 9 languages across 10 Times Group media properties, share the government's view that the country's economy is on an upward trajectory.

The three part-survey was conducted online between December 12-15 with over half a million responses.

About 74 per cent of respondents share the Modi government's optimism that the Indian economy on the right track and is set to grow in the coming years.

The Modi government's decision to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes has got an overwhelming endorsement from the voters. Three-quarters of respondents in the survey lauded the Centre's decision to introduce the note ban and a unified tax for India, whereas only 21 per cent objected to the tough economic reforms.

Around 64 per cent of those surveyed believe that the government has effectively cracked down on corruption, while 28 per cent did not believe so.

However, people want more attention on job creation by the Modi government. 36 percent of respondents said their faith in the government was eroded for failing to deliver on the jobs front. On the other hand, 55 per cent said they were satisfied with the government's efforts to boost employment opportunities.

Survey methodology:

The Times Group's survey was conducted online over 72 hours between December 12-15. The survey was conducted in 9 languages across 10 Times Group media properties. Each response has been geo-tagged to city and state. The results were concealed from voters till after voting ended.
