Market Now: Over 20 stocks hit fresh 52-week lows

NEW DELHI: Domestic equity markets were displaying robust gains in Friday's trade after exit polls predicted a victory for the ruling BJP in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

However, over 20 stocks, including Dena Bank, General Insurance Corporation, Bank of Maharashtra, Ruchi Soya Industries, Shilpi Cable Technologies and TV Vision hit fresh 52-week lows on NSE, defying the bullish sentiment of market.

Meanwhile, over 40 stocks, including HDFC Bank, Century Plyboards (India), Mahindra & Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki India hit fresh 52-week highs in Friday's trade on NSE.

Equity benchmarks Nifty50 and Sensex were aloft, backed by buying across sectors.

The Nifty50 index was 93 points up at 10,345, while the Sensex was 298 points up at 33,544 around 12.30 pm (IST).

Shares of Vedanta, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Auto, Hindalco, Eicher Motors and HDFC Bank were among the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.

However, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Tech Mahindra, Cipla, Power Grid Corporation, Bharti Infratel and Hindustan Unilever were seen under selling pressure.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 42 were trading in the green, while 8 were in the red.
