She won't believe that she snores or has any faults

Introducing Dr Love, who solves your relationship riddles in a confusing digital age

Dr. Love

Dr. LoveMy girlfriend snores a lot, which is extremely annoying. The worst thing is, she continues to deny it. I don't know how to deal with this, because it's pretty much how she deals with anything that portrays her in a bad light. This isn't just about snoring. She refuses to accept any faults in herself. If I do something wrong, it becomes a huge issue. Why can't she accept anything critical?

Tell her how her refusal to accept criticism harms her as much as it harms your relationship. Also, sleep in separate rooms for a while.

I am a 17-year-old college student and I have a huge crush on a girl who is in some of my classes. She has a boyfriend, but I don't know if they are happy because I have seen them argue in the canteen on a number of occasions and I once saw her cry as well. I want to approach her and introduce myself, but I don't want to seem too interested because she may not take me seriously or think I have ulterior motives. At the same time, I don't want to keep my distance because I get the feeling she may end her relationship with her boyfriend soon and I would like to be her friend by then so she can confide in me. Should I just start chatting with her casually? Should I send her email or reach out to her on Facebook? I'm confused because I don't want her to get the wrong idea.

You're over thinking this. If you want to be so calculative, you can forget about this relationship. Why don't you introduce yourself, get to know her, give her a chance to get to know you as a friend, and then take things as they come? You may hit it off or both decide to hate each other. Why speculate without access to information? Why plan this as if it's a war that involves the taking over of a country? Relax a little.
