Gram Panchayat Technical Assistant (GPTA), Athamallik Block, Angul, Narayan Swain was arrested by the Vigilance, Cuttack Division, while demanding and accepting bribe on Thursday.
He received Rs 21,000 from Basanta Kumar Sahu of Mandarbahal village under Thakurgarh police station of the same district for preparation and release of final bill for the work of Mandarbahal High School boundary wall, which was executed by the latter and also to render necessary assistance to him (complainant) for allotment of Government work of the block in future.
As per complaint of Sahu, a trap was laid on Thusrday and Swain was caught red handed inside his Government quarter in the Block colony.
The residential house of Swain located at Gopalsahi, Ranihat, Cuttack, quarter at Athamallik and parental house at Sidhal, Jagatsinghpur were searched.
