2: Area teams to earn a spot in Prep Volleyball’s final national ranking. O’Connor, which this season advanced to the UIL Class 6A state tournament for the first time, was 30th. Reagan, which was No. 1 in several national poll through the season before falling to O’Connor in the Region IV-6A final, finished at No. 31.

11: Area athletes selected to play in the Texas Association of Volleyball Coaches All-Star matches May 19 in San Antonio. Reagan’s Lydia Niebla, Camryn Ennis and Elissa Barbosa, O’Connor’s Aspen Thompson and Allison Fields, Clemens’ Lauren Teske and Mackenzie Miller and Churchill’s Hannah Lopez were chosen for the Class 6A contest. Navarro’s Bailey Wozniak and Devine’s Addie Trojanowski and Makenna Morales were picked to compete in the 4A-2A match.

O’Connor’s Yami Garcia was tabbed as an assistant coach for the 6A competition.

400: Wins for S.A. Lutheran boys basketball coach Bruce Biedinger during his 21-year tenure at the school. He reached the milestone during the Mustangs’ 56-51 win over Schertz John Paul II at the Johnson City tournament on Dec. 8.
