Pankaj Advani, Chawla for national snooker championship from December 16

CHENNAI: Defending champions Pankaj Advani and Amee Kamani will be in action in the men’s and women’s categories, respectively, at the Phoenix Serene Spaces-7th national 6-Red snooker championship, organised by Tamil Nadu Billiards and Snooker Association (TNBSA) at Kamadhenu Mahal, Luz Corner, Mylapore from December 16 to 23.

“About 180 players will be seen in the men’s category. 48 players from the qualifying round will play in the main draw. Top 16 players from last year have been given direct entry and they will play from December 20. Women’s category starts on December 20,’’ said N Ganesh, secretary of TNBSA.
Current World No 2 Kamal Chawla, Ishpreet Singh, Faizal Khan, Rafath Habib are the notable players. From Tamil Nadu, J Varun Kumar, Pranit Ramachandani, SA Saleem and S Shrikrishna in the men’s section and Anupama Ramachandran, Neena Praveen, Soumini Srinivas  in the women’s category, are the players to watch out for.
