Jaipur: A 34-year-old man died after he lost control of his expensive sport bike and hit into a man crossing the road on JLN Marg on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as one Rohit Singh Shekhawat, a resident of Gopalpura. "He was manager of a luxury car showroom located at a mall in Jawahar Circle. He had married three years ago," said an official of Jawahar Circle police station.
He was headed home on his bike from GT Mall. Ahead of officers training school (OTS), he hit into a 24-year-old man who was crossing the road. "The man who was crossing the road has been identified as Akhiles, a resident of Nahargarh area. He is fatally injured in the
accident and undergoing treatment at the hospital," said an official.
The accident police station said they did not find helmet at the spot. "The police team that went to the spot did not find the helmet at the accident site, but we were told by people who witnessed the accident that they had seen a helmet across the street," the official said.
The police said that they had admitted both the injured to a nearby hospital, but Shekhawat was declared dead on arrival while Akhilesh was referred to SMS Hospital.
"It seems that Shekhawat was driving in high speed and applied sudden braked when he found Akhilesh crossing the road ahead of him. The bike skidded and biker hit slammed into a divider," said Dalip Singh, investigation officer in the case.
He said that the biker was profusely bleeding from his head and fell unconscious. "The reasons behind the accident are being probed. We are waiting for Akhilesh to recover and give his statement that will help us arrive at some conclusion about what exactly had transpired," said Singh.
