Container freight movement on rail await Bangladesh nod:CONCOR

Container freight movement between and on railway is awaiting protocol clearances from the neighbouring country, a top official of Container Corporation of said today.

The logistics major had signed an MoU with Container Company of Ltd (CCBL) in April last year.


"All clearances are in place from the Indian end. We are awaiting container protocol from Once it is established, container movement from to will start happening," CONCOR chairman and managing director V Kalyana Rama said at a logistics colloquium here.

He said direct movement of containerised cargo by train would slash trade costs, and make the exercise a lot more organised.

CONCOR will provide training and other required support system to CCBL for the development and operations of Container Trains and Inland Container Depots (ICDs).

Kalyana Rama said the company has also decided to expand container terminals stations in to 100 from 75, by 2020.
