Dharwad: The family members of the youths arrested in Sirsi in connection with the Honnavar violence have demanded a fair trial and withdrawal of cases against them. A total of 63 youths were arrested in Sirsi on Monday and shifted to Central Prison in Dharwad.

Their relatives have reached the jail, requesting police to release them. Some of them alleged that in a bid to avenge damage to the IGP's car in Honnavar, police beat youths and arrested them. They also alleged that police caned silent protesters, but did not take any action against the violent miscreants. They also claimed that the arrested include youths who were on their way to college.
