Belagavi:
Shahapur police on Wednesday arrested a 70-year-old man for allegedly raping a 3-year-old girl.
They arrested Suresh Narayan Koparde, a resident of Nazar Camp in Vadagaon, from Yallur Road. The accused, an idli vendor, confessed to the crime. He has been booked under
Section 376 and sections 4 and 6 of the
Pocso Act.
He raped the girl inside his house on November 12. The girl had been ill since the incident. She would start crying aloud at the sight of Koparde. This made her parents suspect Koparde. They filed a complaint against Koparde. The accused was arrested and subjected to
medical test after the court's order.
The girl has been admitted to the
District Government Hospital for test.
