MARGAO: The war of words between the ruling group of councillors of the Cuncolim Municipal Council (CMC) and the supporters of local MLA Clafacio Dias ceases to end. On Wednesday, Dias's supporters confronted chairperson Polita Cameiro in her cabin, protesting against the "inappropriate" choice of words used by the ruling group in the memorandum submitted by it to the urban development minister Francis D'Souza.

At a media briefing earlier this month, Dias had slammed Cuncolim Municipal Council chief officer Shankar Gaonkar for allegedly "insulting" him by refusing to open the gates of the garbage treatment plant when he had gone there for inspection. Dias' supporters had even demanded that Gaonkar be ousted from the municipality within one month.

The ruling group strongly rallied behind Gaonkar. In the memorandum submitted to the urban development minister, they refuted all the allegations made by Dias, and questioned his right to demand Gaonkar's transfer when he had secured very less number of votes from the municipality area. Dias's supporters demanded an explanation from the chairperson.
