Barcelona captain Andres Iniesta admits he would be rather annoyed if his former teammate Neymar returned to Spain and joined bitter arch-rivals Real Madrid. In recent months, since Neymar moved to Paris Saint Germain for a world record transfer fee of €222 million, there has been talk of the Brazilian plotting his way back to La Liga at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Iniesta pointed out that Neymar is a world class footballer and he would rather not see Barca’s fiercest rivals be strengthened significantly.
When quizzed about how he would feel if Neymar lined up for Real Madrid, Iniesta said: "I would be indifferent. Maybe it would annoy me a little bit because he's a game-changer and he would strengthen a rival. But I'm not worried about it."
"In football anything can happen, we've seen impossible situations become reality," he explained.
Neymar left Barcelona last summer and moved to Paris with PSG where, in his first few months he has been the topic of many conversations regarding matters both on and off the field.
The forward’s relationship with strike partner Edinson Cavani has raised quite a few eyebrows after their public spat about taking a penalty kick. That apart, Neymar is also reportedly unhappy with the coach Unnai Emery.
Recently the fire was further fuelled when Real Madrid President Florentino Perez said that Neymar would find it easier to win the coveted Ballon D’Or at the Santiago Bernabeu. Perez, in fact had tried to sign Neymar in 2013 from Santos before the Brazilian opted for Barcelona.
The Brazilian's father left the door open to Neymar's potential exit from PSG after admitting a move to Real Madrid is definitely a possibility in the future.
Since arriving at Paris Saint Germain, Neymar has played 18 in Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League and managed to find the back of the net 15 times, while assisting his teammates on 9 occasions. The forward, in those games, has also been cautioned with a yellow card on five times and has been sent off once.
