Star Repertory Manipur stages 'Lamana-2', a Rongmei drama on suppressed rights

Imphal, December 13 2017:
The Star Repertory Manipur staged Lamana-2 (Daughter of the Black Mountain)—a drama in Rongmei language about the dead voice of hundreds of dead people in blood-tainted battlefields which often go unnoticed and unsung—at the Manipur Dramatic Union Hall, Imphal last evening .
The play portrayed an incessant fight between two classes in the prehistoric period.
History repeated itself but the things remained the same and as the play went on, the strong dominated the weak .

It is written by Budha Chingtham, and translated, designed and directed by Star Kamei.
Amuba Kamei is the consultant and Abuichung Dangmei is the assistant director.
In Lamana-2, the playwright attempts to explore the conditions of suppressed rights of the mistreated people as he blends folk rituals, traditional beliefs and contemporary realities into the narrative .
Several dignitaries were amongst the audience at the play staged by the Star Re-pertory Manipur theatrical group.
Some of them include Sujata Phaomei, deputy mayor, Imphal Municipal Corporation, who attended as the chief guest, and G Bino, corporator, IMC, Joy Kabui, corporator, IMC, and Gaidon Gangmei, corporator, IMC as guests of honour .
Wareppa Naba, president, Theatre Centre Manipur also attended the event as the function president.
