Udaipur: The Divisional Commissioner has suspended internet services for 24 hours in Udaipur after some anti-social elements spoiled the communal harmony in the district. On Wednesday, the commissioner gave an order to telecom companies to suspend Internet services.

As per Divisional Commissioner Bhawani Singh, “2G, 3G and 4G internet services, MMS, Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter and other social media services being provided by various mobile service providers will be suspended during this period. This suspension has been effective from 8 pm last night.”
District Magistrate Vishnu Charan Malik issued an order and imposed the order under Section 144 of the Indian Penal Code from 8 pm till the next order. It will continue until next order.

He said that prohibition, demonstration, frenetic speech will be stopped during the services. A special cell has been set up in the District Magistrate and the District Superintendent of Police, who will monitor the posts of social media, photographs and videos.
