Gujarat exit polls: BJP likely to win, but Congress may improve tally

After over a month of high-pitch poll campaigning and second phase of the Gujarat assembly elections coming to an end today, exit polls have started trickling in. The results will be declared on December 18th, but exit polls may indicate which way the winds are blowing in Gujarat.

According to Times Now-VMR exit polls: BJP seems getting 109 seats out 182 seats in Gujarat, while Congress is expected to get 70 seats and other 3. In 2012 Assembly elections BJP had won 115 seats under Narendra Modi's leadership, while Congress had won 61 seats.

Republic TV's exit poll suggests a similar trend to Times Now in Gujarat. It predicts 108 seats for the BJP and 74 for the Congress.

NDTV channel said the BJP was likely to get 112 seats and the Congress 70.

Sahara is predicting 110-120 seats for BJP and 65-75 seats for Congress. So all three exit polls are suggesting a similar trend so far.

Today's Chanakya has however predicted huge win for BJP. It said that BJP will get 135 seats while Congress will get only 47.
