Spot turmeric prices increased at Erode markets as the traders received a few upcountry orders. Of the 3,400 bags put up for sale, 70 per cent were sold. Good quality turmeric (finger variety) went for ₹8,700-8,900 a quintal. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger variety was sold at ₹5,739-8,394 a quintal and root variety at ₹5,309-7,690. Of the arrival of 1,584 bags, 736 were traded. At the Regulated Market Committee, finger turmeric was sold at ₹7,029-8,450; root variety ₹6,850-7,990. Of the 1,175 bags on sale, 873 were sold. At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Committee, finger turmeric fetched ₹7,589-8,799; root variety ₹7,280-8,119. All the 887 bags found takers.
