A woman died and many people are feared trapped under the debris after a part of Thiruchendur Murugan temple's roof collapsed today morning in Tuticorin district.

Rescue work is on. The roof of the hall that collapsed was around 60-year-old.

Meanwhile, police have stopped devotees from visiting the site due to rescue operation.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palaniswami announced a solatium of Rs 500,000 to the woman's family and Rs 100,000 each for the injured.
