In the tense double bill, Anna (played by Debbie Rush) ended up in hospital after collapsing due to a reaction to her medication.

The mother-of-two has been in jail after being framed by Phelan (Connor McIntyre) for pushing Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) off a ladder.

Whilst in the hospital, Anna saw the opportunity to flee police custody when she was left alone and immediately stole a coat and ran for the exit.

Back in Weatherfield, the news spread to her daughter Faye (Ellie Leach) about her mother's escape and cracks started to show in Phelan’s lies.

Faye noticed he had a nasty reaction to the shocking news as she spotted his look of triumph.

His unusual reaction prompted Faye to find out the truth about what happened the night he had sex with her mother in a hotel.

However, a raging Phelan refused to tell her the details and snapped: “I could tell you what went on in that hotel but I don’t think you’d like it."

Fans will remember that was the night the villain’s ongoing feud with Anna began as Phelan manipulated her into sleeping with him to save her family from financial ruin.

Following Faye's conversation with Phelan, she told Seb that Phelan is a liar and Anna wasn’t the one who pushed her.

However, her boyfriend refused to believe her and the pair ended their relationship.
