Residents of Riverdale have been spending all season trying to figure out the identity of The Black Hood after the murderer wreaked havoc on the town.

Many fan theories suggested it was Betty Cooper’s (Lili Reinhart) mother Alice (Mädchen Amick) or her father Hal (Lochlyn Munro) behind the mask.

Other’s believed the killer had to be Sheriff Keller (Martin Cummins) or Betty’s older brother Chic Cooper (Hart Denton).

So many viewers were shocked to find out The Black Hood was the school janitor Mr. Svenson whose real name is Joseph Conway (Cameron McDonald).

He was only introduced in episode seven where viewers discovered he was the only survivor of an attack on his family by the Riverdale Reaper.

In the episode, Betty attempted to justify Mr. Svenson's reason for causing terror on Riverdale as she said: "Maybe he thought that in some backward way that murdering the sinners would balance the scales someway."

However, viewers weren’t convinced the mystery is completely solved as many believed the real Black Hood is still out there as the twist doesn't completely add up.

“One person wrote: “There’s no way the janitor was the Black Hood. Nope. No way. Won’t believe it. Not happening. It’s all a lie. #Riverdale.”

Another noted Mr. Svenson has brown eyes whereas The Black Hood has green as they said: “There has to be more than one black hood… unless he was wearing coloured contacts it just doesn’t make sense #Riverdale."

A third added: “I don’t believe Stenson is the black hood...I think he was being used by the actual black hood #riverdale.”
