Of course, The Simpsons called it first.

In a blockbuster deal announced Thursday, The Walt Disney Co. is acquiring assets from 21st Century Fox including the 20th Century Fox movie studio.

The deal had been brewing for weeks, but The Simpsons called it back in 1998.

The show has been known to make eerie premonitions in its 28-year history, so it is not at all shocking that this particular gag came true.

The joke plays out in the season 10 episode "When You Dish Upon a Star," which premiered in November, 1998.

The episode, written by Richard Appel and directed by Pete Michels, revolved around Homer befriending Alec Baldwin and his then-wife Kim Basinger. He begins to work as their assistant but then spills their personal gossip to others.

At one point, the episode features the 20th Century Fox logo with “A division of Walt Disney Co” underneath it.

Showrunner Al Jean played down the gag.

"I predict people will make far too much of this mere coincidence," Jean told Heat Vision

Other notable predictions from The Simpsons include Donald Trump becoming president, and the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks playing each other in the Super Bowl.
