INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Colts tight end Brandon Williams left Thursday night's game and was hospitalized with a head injury. He was carted off the field on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital for precautionary reasons but the team quickly announced that he had no neck pain and movement in his limbs.
After the game, Colts coach Chuck Pagano said Williams suffered a concussion.
"It was a pretty scary thing, but he's doing well," Pagano said in his postgame news conference. "He is back in the training room right now."
The fifth-year pro collided helmet to helmet with Broncos linebacker Deiontrez Mount during a Colts punt and immediately collapsed to the ground, appearing to be unconscious.
Williams was unconscious from the initial hit. Never seen a defensive player basically soften the landing the way that happened there. Hope heβs ok.

Team medical personnel immediately rushed onto to the field to attend to him and eventually called for a stretcher, which he was strapped to with his head and neck immobilized.
More than a dozen Colts players gathered around Williams, who lay in the middle of the field for at least 10 minutes, as medical personnel tended to him.

Concerns were initially heightened because of Williams' history with spinal injuries. While playing collegiately at Oregon, doctors discovered he had congenital spinal stenosis, which is the abnormal narrowing of the spinal canal.
