The South Central Railway (SCR) has achieved the top position in the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) among all 16 zones of the Railways during April-September.

KPIs are decided by the Railway Board.

The SCR achieved 71.90 per marks on all the combined KPIs. It was followed by the South Eastern Railway and the Western Railway with 69.09 per cent and 66.29 percent, respectively. In the operational and financial segment of the KPIs, the SCR registered a revenue of ₹7,717.49 crore. While the originating passenger traffic was at 192.54 million and freight loading was 48.34 million tonnes, the punctuality of train services was 95 per cent.

In capacity enhancement, which primarily covers infrastructure development, new lines were completed to a length of 40 km. A total of 443 km of railway lines was electrified and 17 km of lines underwent doubling. In addition, 23 unmanned level crossings were eliminated and the average speed of freight trains saw an increase of 21.10 km per hour.

Capacity utilisation is another segment of KPIs, which has shown visible increase for the SCR. The existing track length has been replaced (track renewal) to a length of 229 km. The average diesel loco utilisation was registered as 480 km and electric loco utilisation was registered as 429 km, a press release said.
