A new scheme will be launched in Haryana for fixing the procurement rates of vegetables such as potato, tomato, onion and cabbage from January 2018 onwards.
The scheme would be beneficial for the farming community, said Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, OP Dhankar while talking to the mediapersons here on Wednesday.
Dhankar also launched the portal of Haryana Pashu Chikitsak Parishad and Haryana Veterinary journal.
On the occasion, he exhorted the veterinary surgeons to set a goal and make Haryana number one state in all spheres of milk production including per capita milk production, total milk production and average milk production per cattle.
The Minister said that Israel is ahead in the world in adoption of these techniques where per cattle milk production is 32 litres, whereas the same is 18 litres in New Zealand and 16 litres in Australia.
The Centre of Excellence for Fruits and Vegetables have been established in the state under Indo-Israel Project and similar projects in milk production would soon be opened in Haryana, said Dhankar while referring to his visit to Israel in September.
The Minister said that a delegation of Israel is visiting Haryana from December 18 to 20, 2017 and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be signed.
Responding to a question regarding milk production, Dhankar said that there are about 36 lakh milch animals in the state and average milk production per day is 2.46 crore litres.“We want to enhance this figure to 3.60 crore litres in coming five years. The per capita milk availability in the state has also been increased during last three years of present government,” he claimed.
The Minister also informed that Brazil is getting upto 40 litres milk production per cattle through Indian breed animals.
