The rock group features "American Idol" finalist Chris Daughtry

Daughtry, formed and fronted by the “American Idol” performer of the same last name, will soon make their debut at Van Wezel.

The rock group will perform at the venue on March 8. Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday.

The band features Chris Daughtry, who was a finalist in American Idol’s fifth season in 2006. That same year Daughtry released their self-titled debut, which went multi-platinum, received four Grammy nominations and featured the hit “It’s Not Over.”

They followed that album up with 2009’s “Leave This Town,” 2011’s “Break the Spell” and 2013’s “Baptized,” with singles including “No Surprise” and “Waiting for Superman.” Their latest release was last year’s greatest hits collection “It’s Not Over…The Hits So Far.”
