International Aviation Hub’S Development MOU Signed in Haryana

Chandigarh December 14: In a significant move, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Haryana Government and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at New Delhi to embolden a robust and organic vision for the development of the International Aviation Hub at Hisar.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of Haryana Civil Aviation Department said that while Advisor, Civil Aviation, Mr. Ashok Sangwan signed the MOU on behalf of the State Government, Head of Business Management Mr. Anil Kumar Gupta signed on behalf of the AAI. The landmark has been achieved after the detailed study of various projects or models in the country and the impact on grass root development of the Rohtak-Hisar-Sirsa Region by 2030.
He said that Hisar has been notified by the Central Government in Bharat Mala Project with exciting possibilities for a Delhi-Sirsa Economic Corridor and connection to Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) via Rohtak-Rewari link. The Corridor has potential to emerge as an Economic enabler for the region and would completely transform the Region in years to come. The International Aviation Hub is proposed to be developed around the existing Civil Airstrip at Hisar, he added.
The spokesman said that the State has already reserved 4,200 acres of land adjoining the pre-existing airstrip, to be utilized for the project. The proposed aviation hub envisages a 9,000 feet runway with International standards airport, ample parking for Airlines and General Aviation (GA) operators, Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities, Aerospace University, the Global training center for pilots, engineers and ground handling staff and Residential and Commercial Development. He said that the Department has pitched with Airline Operators for sub-basing of their aircraft at Hisar for night parking and routine maintenance). The Operators have evinced keen interest in the proposal, he further added.
He said that the construction of a large Apron, small Passenger Terminal, and three Hangars to accommodate the A320 type of aircraft are being expedited for implementation of UDAN II from upgraded Hisar Airport in the interim. A Joint Working Group comprising of Domain experts has been constituted to guide the State Government in developing Aviation Hub at Hisar. He said that the Department is also in the process to plan and develop a future-ready infrastructure for Aviation activities in Bhiwani, Narnaul, Pinjore, and Karnal.
