Tirupur: Two minors have committed suicide in different occasions in the last two days in the district. S Santhosh Kumar, 17, of Palladam was studying class XII in Palladam Government Higher Secondary School. Of late, he had started consuming oral tobacco products.
His mother Murugeswari visited his school on Wednesday and found him chewing the tobacco product. She scolded and warned him. On the same night, the boy committed suicide at his house by hanging, said the police. The Palladam police have registered a case.
In another incident, C Muthukumar, 17, of Kunnathur, committed suicide reportedly after he got frustrated over life. He consumed poison Tuesday night and was rushed to Gobichettipalayam government hospital, where he died the next morning. Kunnathur police have registered a case.
A Shanmugasundaram, 83, of Thiagi Kumaram Colony in Chettipalayam, committed suicide as he had geriatric issues on Wednesday. He hanged himself from a tree.15 Velampalayam police have registered a case. tnn
