Two Research Fellow positions are available in the laboratory of Prof Peter Preiser at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, to work on malaria parasite biology.
1. Erythrocyte signaling during Plasmodium falciparum merozoite invasion.
The project will focus on establishing the erythrocyte signaling cascade activated during the ligand-receptor interaction and aims to identify critical erythrocyte proteins involved in signaling. The project aims to develop a more tractable system to directly investigate erythrocyte signaling molecules during merozoite invasion.
Requirements:
• PhD in Biosciences or related fields
• Strong background in biochemistry and cell signaling transduction
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaborative working, to be self-motivated, well organised and focused

2. A comprehensive survey of the interactome inside the cytoplasm of red blood cell infected by Plasmodium parasite
The project will focus on the identification of critical molecules involved in host cell remodeling of the erythrocyte during the maturation of the malaria parasite in the host cell. In particular the interactions of host cell – parasite proteins are to validated and assessed for functional importance using both biochemical as well as genetic tools.
Requirements:
• PhD in Biosciences or Computational Biology
• Strong background in Computational Biology if PhD is not in related subject
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaborative working, to be self-motivated, well organised and focused
