Things to watch:

>>> How will the Warriors’ backcourt look? An already-depleted backcourt endured another blow when guard Nick Young suffered a concussion in the third quarter of Monday night’s 111-104 win over the Trail Blazers. The silver lining: Patrick McCaw, who has struggled to find consistent minutes in his second NBA season, could be in line for more playing time. After missing two games with a concussion, McCaw appeared timid Monday, not attempting a shot in 17 minutes. Now, he figures to join Shaun Livingston, Quinn Cook and Klay Thompson as the only available guards against Dallas. Andre Iguodala will be a point-forward of sorts, helping initiate the offense at times.

>>> What does Jordan Bell have in store? The last time the Warriors faced the Mavericks, Bell lobbed an alley-oop dunk to himself in garbage time. Video of the play had social media abuzz: How could someone even attempt such a play in his fourth NBA game? After practice Wednesday, Bell joked that he’ll only attempt layups Thursday against Dallas. This much is certain: He’ll have opportunities to dunk. With Draymond Green expected to miss his second straight game with a sore right shoulder, Bell should start again. He had 11 points, six rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal in Monday’s win over Portland.

>>> Can Golden State avoid a letdown? The Warriors’ biggest issue this season has been inattention, and they will have plenty of reasons to lose focus against a Dallas team that is tied with Memphis for last place in the Western Conference standings. The Mavericks are without several rotation players, including stud rookie Dennis Smith, Jr., from a group that is 27th out of 30 NBA clubs with 99.9 points per game. One of the slowest teams in the league, Dallas will try to muddy up the pace against Golden State and win a grind-it-out game. The Warriors, winners of seven in a row, will need to be wary coming off two days off. The Mavericks beat San Antonio 95-89 on Tuesday.

Quotable: “I want to offer our condolences to Mayor Lee’s family. We were devastated by the news. He’s been such an important figure in the Bay Area and a good friend of the Warriors. Always just a kind, gentle soul. We’ve had so many events he was a part of, and he always had a smile on his face. You could just tell he’s a good soul. You feel for his family, most of all, and also for the city. I wanted to pass along our best wishes to his family.” — Warriors head coach Steve Kerr on the recent passing of San Francisco mayor Ed Lee
