Driver hurt in crash at Proctor and Clark in Sarasota

SARASOTA COUNTY -- A driver was seriously hurt in a crash east of Interstate 75 on Wednesday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

According to the FHP, Hannah I. Leleka, 45, of Sarasota was driving a Nissan Leaf south on Proctor Road approaching Clark Road at about 2:30 p.m. A witness behind Leleka said the Nissan failed to stop at the stop sign and turned left onto Clark at about 30 mph.

A Dodge Ram driven east on Clark by Evan H. Brawn, 36, of Myakka City collided with the Nissan, FHP reports.

Leleka, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. Brawn, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.

The crash is under investigation.
