Work on BBMP's second-longest flyover on the Koramangala 100 ft road has progressed, with the soil testing underway.

The flyover between Kendriya Sadan Junction and Ejipura Main Road-Inner Ring Road junction is next to only the Balagangadharanatha Swami Flyover on Mysore Road. Running for a distance of 2.4 km, it will be built at a cost of Rs 203 crore. The project is funded under the Chief Minister's City Development Plan and the contract is with the Simplex Infrastructure Private Limited.

"The soil testing at the depth of 20 metres will be completed at Kendriya Sadana and Ejipura Main Road. With 62 pillars, the soil testing will be done at four spots for each pillar. The testing work will take a month after which the civil work on the pillars will begin," said K T Nagaraj, the BBMP Chief Engineer for Road and Infrastructure (Planning).

The pillars will be built using precasting technology, he said. "We have identified the place for casting yard. The parts will be cast and assembled at the spot. The target is to complete the work by January 23, 2020," he added.

He said there will be four ramps towards Domlur (118.62 meters), Hosur Road (192.46 meters), Madiwala (169.21 meters) and a 164.74-metre ramp from Hosur Road to the flyover near Kendriya Sadan.

The flyover is the east-west corridor of the area and will help ease traffic congestion on the three prime junctions between Ejipura and Kendriya Sadan and four other small junctions. "It will save about 30 minutes of journey time," Nagaraj said.

Commuters are waiting for the stretch to be "I commute between Indiranagar and Hosur Road. The roads are heavily congested during peak hours in the morning and evening. It takes about one and half hours of bike journey to reach from one end to another. The flyover will help avoid the traffic," said B K Rakesh, who works in a private company.
