CHANDIGARH: The Punjab vigilance bureau on Wednesday arrested an economic offences wing (EOW) police inspector posted at Sri Muktsar Sahib while accepting Rs 16,000 as bribe.
EOW in-charge inspector Jagsir Singh was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Parminder Singh of Bareta in Mansa district. In his complaint, Parminder had told the bureau that the accused inspector was demanding Rs 25,000 to settle a complaint case against him.
Thereafter, the vigilance team laid a trap and the accused inspector was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs 16,000 from the complainant. The bureau spokesperson said a case under the prevention of corruption Act has been registered against Jagsir at vigilance bureau police station in Ferozepur.
