spuriell the flight nurse who was killed in medical helicopter crash in arkansas. wtva's shante sumpter was at the special memorial and has the story std." a large crowd gathered here at the orchard church in tupelo. it was fitting that five medical helicopters like this one were here. it was a job everyone who spoke said jim spruiell loved and ultimately died doing. nats he's hurriedly pulling up the top of his wet flight suit that had just come out of the dryer too early a few words from many stories told about jim spuriell's legacy. as a medical nurse. he was always ready to go above and beyond. a total package as many put it he's the clinician, he's the educator, he's the safety. he's the public relations. everybody knows jim, everybody loves him. that love was shown, as his friends, family, and colleagues came together to reflect on his career, and life. one of many memorials held after spuriell died aboard a medical helicopter that crashed on november 19th jim was a great leader. he led by example. he never asked you to do something he wouldn't do himself. a quote from one of his old partners. he died with his boots on he died doing what he loved. and the same flights jim rode to save others, took off one last time in his honor the first jim spruiell scholarship was presented today to his daughter. it will continue to be awarded to people pursuing careers in emergency medicine. in tupelo ss wtva 9 news a preliminary report by the national transportation safety board says the medical flight spruiell was onboard may have came into contact with geese. the cause of the crash is still under investigation is it too soon to start
