Man Utd news: Romelu Lukaku reaction surprised Alan Shearer… is there something going on?

ALAN SHEARER has revealed he is surprised about Romelu Lukaku’s lack of reaction after scoring for Manchester United.

Lukaku netted the only goal of the game last night as Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The victory was a good response after the 2-1 defeat to crosstown rivals Manchester City on Sunday.

Lukaku has had his fair share of critics, as he appears to have struggled for confidence.

But he rose highest in the penalty area to head home a Juan Mata delivery.

And Shearer was puzzled as to why the Belgian hitman didn’t enjoy his winner more over the Cherries.

It was a very surprising lack of reaction from Lukaku to his goal

Alan Shearer

“Unless there is something we are unaware of, it was a very surprising lack of reaction from Lukaku to his goal,” Shearer told BBC’s Match of the Day

“Maybe that was in answer to the criticism he has been receiving.

“It was only his second Premier League goal in 10 games.

Alan Shearer is surprised Romelu Lukaku didn't celebrate his goal

"I said something negative about him at the weekend, that he has to show more, but when you score that is the perfect answer.

"That is why I was surprised he did not run away, smile or put his arm in the air. It is such a fantastic feeling when you score goals, particularly the winning ones."

United are 11 points behind City, who beat Swansea 4-0 last night, in the table.
