Arsenal cheated in Invincibles season and should never have gone unbeaten - Micky Quinn
ARSENAL should never have gone the 2003/04 Premier League season unbeaten, according to pundit Micky Quinn.
Arsenal remain the only side to go the entire 38 games in a Premier League campaign without defeat, although Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are on course to make it two this season.
Labelled the Invincibles, Arsene Wenger’s side will go down as one of the greatest in the modern era in English football.
However, former Newcastle striker Quinn has labelled them "boring" compared to the Manchester United and Newcastle teams from the 1990s.
And he says they were lucky to escape defeat in the 1-1 draw with another of his former side's Portsmouth in September 2003 after the Gunners were awarded a debatable penalty.

It wasn’t a penalty, it was a dive, but he got the penalty and they went unbeaten after that
He says Robert Pires dived to win the spot-kick which cancelled out Teddy Sheringham's opener.
“I thought they were boring to tell you the truth, compared to those two teams I just mentioned,” Quinn said of Arsenal on talkSPORT.
“They would grind out results, grind out results. They were a physical team, strong, physical team.
“And they rode the biggest amount of luck early in that season.
TALKSPORT
“I was working for talkSPORT and it was 1-0 and (Robert) Pires went down the left.
“You know when you see them kick their leg. A defender comes in and as they get close, he throws his leg at the defender, Pires, and he got brought down.
“It wasn’t a penalty, it was a dive, but he got the penalty and they went unbeaten after that.
“They were a brilliant team, our own Ray (Parlour) was in there and he will tell you what a magnificent team they were. To go unbeaten all season is a great feat.”
