Three arrested for firing at resort near Dharwad

Dharwad: Tension prevailed after three youths opened fire at a resort where the main accused in the Yogeshgouda murder case was attending a wedding reception. The accused have been arrested.

The incident took place at Mayur Resort on the outskirts of Dharwad at 8.30pm on Tuesday. DCP (law and order) Renuka Sukumar told TOI that the case is being investigated from all angles. "We will also examine whether the incident has any connection to the presence of Basavaraj Muttagi at the resort," Renuka said.

Muttagi is currently out on bail.


Renuka added that the accused, identified as Hanumanthgouda Goudar, Raghavendra Makadawale and Nagaraj of Malaprabha Nagar in Dharwad, possessed licenced weapon and claimed to have fired in the air.


After gunshots were heard near a paan shop in the corner of the resort near Navalur at Dharwad-Hubballi Road, security staff rushed to the spot and detained the three youths. They informed Vidyagiri police who took the accused into their custody.


Apart from the wedding reception, a birthday party was also going on when the incident took place.
