Hi- I have worked very very hard past few years but i feel as if I am constantly being overlooked. More importantly my boss has this habit of praising the other colleague continuously in front of me. so do I ignore, do I bring it up? I tried reasoning in my mind that I should closely observe what she does better better than i can copy and have my boss be just as impressed but I guess bottom line its the praise (perhaps a little jealous too) that is getting to me. how do I deal with this?

I think Aruna you should ignore it.. I can understand that you are really feeling bad but do not copy her because you know that you are working very hard and that is what matters.. just ignore when your boss praises your colleague. Why to make yourself sad despite of putting he hard work? jealousy will surely exist but somewhere or the other your boss might be knowing too that you are working very hard :high5: just do our work nicely, be happy and satisfied and this won’t matter.. I am sure he will praise you one day for ll that you have put in :high5:

    Hi Aruna,

Sorry that you are feeling this way.
My first suggestion would be – it is best to ignore this.
You know you are true to your work, and nobody can beat that. Now coming to the praises, it’s just that boss who praises her -right? So, chuck it. Bosses and jobs change every now and then. Don’t let this go to your head. If you think there is something that you can learn from the other girl – do it. If not, then understand that some people are just good at showing off whatever little work they do as the most valuable work in the organization. Either you can stoop to their level, or you can ignore it and continue working professionally.
As you are quite experienced in job field, I’m sure this is not the first or last time you are experiencing this in the corporate world.

The only praise that matters in the corporate world is – your own conscience and the amount that comes to your bank every month

Thanks Nidhi and Saloni. Sorry didnt get a chance to thank you earlier. was away travelling.

I also agree thats it best to ignore and find better ways to keep myself busy than worry about this. it was eating me up inside so i thought I should vent it out. Hopefully next year is better..keeping fingers crossed
