Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is all set to expand its wings out of Punjab with forthcoming elections to Haryana's civic bodies of Ambala and Rohtak.

The party has decided that it would contest all forthcoming elections in Haryana on its own symbol starting with the local bodies elections of Ambala and Rohtak.

The decision was taken at a meeting of SAD's Haryana state unit a day before which was presided over by the SAD president Sukhbir Badal.

Sukhbir said that the members of Haryana unit unanimously passed a resolution to contest all forthcoming elections in the State on the party’s symbol. “I have asked them to work vigorously to strengthen the party at all levels so that the SAD may emerge as a major force in Haryana politics,” he said.

He said that following a request from party's Haryana state leadership, it was also decided that senior Akali leaders from Punjab would be deputed to Haryana to help in strengthening the organization.

Sukhbir has asked the Haryana unit to identify with people issues and take up such issues for redressal.

During the meeting, iit was suggested that the party’s office in Kurukshetra be modernised. SAD president immediately acceded to the suggestion saying that the office must be strengthened and also equipped with modern communication equipment.
