MA 3rd sem exam from December 23

Nagpur: After a long delay, the Nagpur University on Wednesday finally published the master of arts (MA) third semester timetable for 27 courses of both credit based semester and choice-based credit system (CBCS). As per the timetable uploaded on NU's website, the exams would be conducted from December 23 to December 30.

At the same time, the new direction governing the faculty continued to be mired in ambiguity forcing the academic section to issue corrigendum. In the last minute corrections, the academic section has clarified that the third semester students of MA Political Science and Ancient Indian History Culture&Archaeology won't be able to choose from the same electives and foundation courses they opted, in the next semester.

Regular and backlog MA students are now in a dilemma. Regular students, who have been eyeing competitive and other entrance exams, are upset since they didn't were unable to fully concentrate on studies. Many backlog students are likely to skip the exam since they had started working in cities like Mumbai and Pune and may not be able to get leave.

"I was supposed to take part in a nationwide tour with an international NGO. The camp is starting from December 23 and there were 450 participants from across the globe. It was a lifetime opportunity which has gone abegging," an MA Economics student from NU's PG department said.

An MA English student, who is working in Mumbai, said, "I have only one backlog subject. The university had failed all students in that paper. After protests, most of the students were passed but results of some like me came unchanged. Again, my fee would be wasted as I may not be able to reach Nagpur on the exam day."

The timetable fiasco is a result of differences between the academic section and the exam section regarding course direction. The academic section had notified a common direction for all UG and PG courses for implementing CBCS pattern. But, the exam section wanted a separate direction for MA since the colleges had opted for multiple electives and foundation courses.
