NAGPUR: 'Murderwale Kulkarni', a comedy thriller based on family values showcasing importance of life and mistakes, was presented by Shree Siddhivinayak publicity at Scientific Sabahgruha, Laxmi nagar on Sunday.
The protagonist character Madhav Kulkarni witnesses a murder which entangles him with police investigation and murderer. The play showcases dramatic turn of events in the life of a couple after the murderer, in a bid to hide from the police, takes shelter in the duo's house as their son.
Caught between the devil and deep sea situation, the couple keeps lying to the police, who visit their home, in order to "save" the murderer so that he would not harm them.
Kulkarni tries to suppress the his rebellious attitude but the murderer overpowers his rule under his own roof. Meanwhile, the murderer learns that his girlfriend Reshma is pregnant. The female protagonist character Madhavi tries to convince him to leave the path of crime as he was set to be a father, and for that he must first become a good human being, rightful and honest.
The play ends on sweet note as the murderer surrenders to the police and asks his girlfriend and the couple, whom he now considers as his parents, to wait for him. He promises to be a better person when he comes out of jail. As the title suggests, Kulkarni couple puts an end to the evil and depressing side which keeps the murderer away from the real joy of life. Finally, the murderer learns the importance of life and the fact that happiness lies in appreciating different qualities in others and not in the cruelly of taking innocent lives.
The play is enriched with comic punchlines which keeps the crowd laughing till the end.
The play has been written by Jayant Upadhye and directed by Nana Pandit.
