Jaipur: Rajasthan University (RU) will have a firing range for National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets in the campus. Besides, three tanks will be placed at different locations of RU aiming to evoke nationalism and interest of youths in armed forces. The announcement came after the meeting of NCC officers with the RU V-C R K Kothari on Wednesday. The meeting was held with Col H J Karinta, Col A H Yadav and training officers of NCC group Lt Col Bhawani Singh.

Kothari will be accorded the title of colonel rank by the NCC for his contribution in promoting NCC on Wednesday. Kothari has been a NCC cadet during his education. "It is a moment of great pride for me and the institution that I have been accorded the title. It has reaffirmed my resolve to work for the armed forces," Kothari reacted after he gave consent on the proposal of granting him the title.

"The place for fire range has not been finalised but university has ample of space that a world class range can be placed. It will not only help the NCC Cadets but also the sports related to firing will get the major boost," said a university official.
