'Brexit is bad for EU, but it's WORSE for UK!' German MEP's SHOCK Brexit warning

A GERMAN MEP has claimed that Brexit will be bad for the EU but even worse for Britain as he issued a stern warning.

The Chairman of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs, Elmar Brok admitted that the EU would feel the impact of , but claimed that UK would feel more damage.

Speaking on Sky News, host Adam Boulton asked who had backed down more so far in Brexit negotiations.

Mr Brok replied: “We have to have a situation where at the end of the day we can keep down the damages of Brexit.

“Brexit is bad for all of us. But it is more difficult for the United Kingdom because of the difference in size of the European market and the UK market.

“Therefore it’s an off of us to have a fair and constructive agreement and that the financial obligations are settled.

“Also the rights of the citizens are settled and the Irish question is part of such a settlement to avoid new damages in Northern Ireland, especially as all the disasters for families of the economy there.

“And we would like to keep the Good Friday Agreement. The was instrumental and was very important for the Peace Process which has been very successful in the last 20 years.”

The dig comes as a  "under most plausible scenarios" after it leaves the EU.

The Rand Corporation report found a no-Brexit deal would cost the UK nearly five per cent of its overall GDP – around £104bn – over the course of ten years after Brexit.

The comments come as Michel Barnier warned David Davis that “certain points” in the Brexit deal were non-negotiable.

Speaking in European Parliament on Wednesday in preparation for the EU summit, the Frenchman sent a stern warning to his British counterpart about the integrity of the bloc.

He said: “Now I can say specifically and clearly that there are certain points which are non-negotiable - integrity of the internal market, the four freedoms which are absolutely essential and the fundamental foundation of the internal market.

“And obviously we need to guarantee the integrity of the European Union, which the United Kingdom has chosen to leave.

“As of March 2019 the United Kingdom will become a third country. I think we have a shared objective to have a good relations and we know that the stage of the phase that we are moving into now is very important.

“There are very many more steps that need to be taken so that we can have an orderly withdrawal.”

The criticism came after Mr Davis suggested in a TV interview that the Brexit deal was not legally binding. After facing an uproar from European politicians, Mr Davis later said he had meant that the agreement was not only legally but politically binding.

Many EU chiefs have now called for the Brexit deal to be enshrined into law as negotiations move onto the second phase of talks.
