For Japanese companies, Uttar Pradesh is going to be the next stopover.
The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, UP chapter, is going to play a facilitator between the state government and Japanese companies.
- Japanese corporations that participated in the event included: Miyachi Corporation, Maruyoshi Shoten, Kayama Kogyo, Isashiseicya, Fukaya, Akamatsu, Japan Development company, Buddha Nippon Solar, Tset Corporation, Shima Product, Blue Fin Mie Corporation, Kanun, Fugetsudo, Katsuragi Sangyou, Eco And Safety Energy, Hakuto, Sony Mobile Communications, Sony Computer Science Lab, Sony India, Nihon Houzai, Japan Environment Business, Indus International, Laxmi, Hori Corporation, Maede Sangyo, Derise, Daiei Tha, Eco Stage.
Twenty- eight Japanese companies have turned up at the three-day 5th International AgriHorti Tech organised jointly by the PHD Chamber and the UP government in which Japan is a partner nation.
Apart from these companies, 56 other companies have set up stalls at the exhibition at Smriti Upvan.
Tetsuya Uetake, first secretary, food and agriculture, Embassy of Japan, is leading the Japanese delegation.
“Japan is a major investor in India. At present, 1,300 Japanese companies have invested in the country. We are looking forward to invest in Uttar Pradesh on a large scale,” said Uetake.
“In the past 10 years, Japan’s investment in India has increased by five times,” he added.
Also present on the occasion, chief secretary, UP government, Rajive Kumar said, “Japan and India are ideological partners. Farmers of the state can benefit a lot from Japanese technology. We want more such companies to invest in Uttar Pradesh.”
Of late, Japanese companies have shown interest in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier this year, a delegation of Japanese companies had visited Lucknow to explore investment opportunities.
Lalit Khaitan, chairman, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was also optimistic about Japanese companies investing in India.
“We have a special Japanese desk at our Delhi office. A similar desk will be set up in Uttar Pradesh to facilitate companies willing to invest in the state,” said Khaitan.
“We are hopeful that soon a memorandum of understanding will be signed between the Uttar Pradesh government and Japanese companies finalising investment in the state,” Khaitan said.
